Virtual Care Scheduling

We are working with a Modul, LLC customer to further enhance their ability to optimally direct virtual care providers to clinical sites where they are needed most, automatically.

In a care delivery system with many sites across a large geographic region, a customer is using more and more telehealth to ensure access-to-care for their patient population. Using a telehealth platform built on the Modul framework, they have simplified the process of connecting patients’ visits to virtual clinics.

We are now coordinating to further optimize the process by using the rules engine in the Modul app to automatically shift provider availability to “Telehealth All” when there is extra time in a provider’s schedule to see patients from other clinical sites. For example, a provider is working in a clinic Abilene on a Tuesday and by 3pm they have seen all of their patients; the Modul app will automatically create a virtual clinic for the provider so patients from Amarillo can be connected to see the provider. All of this is automatic, without any administrative functioning by a user.

This real-time load balancing, using the Modul rules engine will ensure high-quality access to care, across many clinical sites among many different providers, and at the same time simplify the administrative burden of ensuring coverage by providers when and where it it is most critical.

This sounds great for the providers and the clinics, but most importantly this is tremendous for their patients. With this load balancing, they do not have to over-schedule patients to their onsite clinics, to ensure providers’ time isn’t wasted; this means patient wait times, and rescheduling of appointments will be minimized, improving the overall patient experience.
